Proposed Development
The Campus development is a unique project in which partners from the public, private and charitable sectors are working together to deliver a shared vision. Sport and leisure facilities form the core of the charity’s project with other community benefits building upon it.
On land given to Halesworth Campus Charity by Suffolk County Council, and a further piece of land gifted by a local landowner, the following services will be provided:
- Full-size floodlit all-weather (3G) pitch - marked out for all football affiliated age group matches (adults and juniors). Also suitable for rugby training.
- Full-size, floodlit grass pitch developed to World Rugby Union standards.
- Perimeter ‘trim track’ that will include outside exercise equipment.
- 50+ station fitness gym.
- Multi-purpose rooms/studios for fitness training sessions and classes.
- Outdoor and indoor tennis/netball courts at a later stage (subject to community need and funding).
- Indoor and outdoor changing rooms.
- Community café/bar.
- Multi-use sports hall (subject to funding).
- Indoor swimming pool (subject to funding).
There will be three separate planning applications to achieve the full sports complex.
- First application: the full-size grass pitch, all-weather pitch and associated access and drainage.
- Second application: the main sports centre with changing rooms and café and the completion of outside spaces including trim track, car parking, ‘community social space’ and landscaping.
- Third application: the sports hall and swimming pool.
